Caramel Custard Pie
- 1 cup sugar, scant
- 1 tablespoon flour, heaping
- 2 cups milk (half cream)
- 2 eggs
- 1 /2 teaspoon maple flavoring
- pinch of salt
- nuts
- Mix flour, sugar, egg yolks, maple, and salt.
- Add cream to make a thin batter.
- Scald milk and cool.
- Add to other ingredients.
- Beat egg whites until they form soft peas.
- Fold into the remaining ingredients.
- Sprinkle with nuts.
- Bake at 325 until done.
