Vanilla Pie
 
 
Ingredients
  • ½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • ¼ cup dark corn syrup
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell
Instructions
  1. Combine first 5 ingredients in 2-quart saucepan.
  2. Slowly stir in water.
  3. Cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil, stirring constantly. Let cool.
  4. Combine remaining ingredients (except pie shell) and mix until crumbly.
  5. Pour cooled mixture into pie shell and top with crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
