    Fab Four?

    Published: Jul 6, 2013 · Updated: Feb 2, 2021 by Kevin Williams | 9 Comments

Amish-owned buggies are like cars, they often reflect the personalities of their owners.  Some buggies are sloppy inside with discarded pop cans and cheeseburger wrappers. Other buggies might reflect the youthfulness of their owner, perhaps some bling on the inside or some racing stripes on the outside.  But this buggy spotted by Anita outside Ephrata, Pennsylvania has me scratching my head.  Why is there a giant 4 scrawled on the windshield of this buggy?  We'll probably never know.  But does anyone have any guesses?

      My guesses are:

      1. teens in rumspringa having buggy races
      2. they were at a wedding or funeral, and they marked buggies so they would know whose was whose

Maybe they just bought it at an auction or farm sale.

I've seen that before at buggy auctions. I don't know if that is why he has the #4 but I have seen buggies with lot/auction numbers on them in the past.

I too wondered if they'd been to a wedding or funeral and that was an identification marking to join the right horse with the right buggy and owner.
