"Going to the Chapel and We're Going to Get Married...."

We've all heard that omnipresent song by the Dixie Cups about going to the chapel.   Okay, well, the Amish don't go to the chapel to get married, they get married in a shed or at home or under a tent.  But what is one of the stops to make as an Amish bride prepares for the big day?  If you are in Grabill, Indiana you put Katie's Kountry Corner on your list. This "variety store" has a room devoted to the big day.  The Amish bride and groom can purchase everything they need to make the day go great.  What is the biggest mover?  According to Rose Schmucker who manages the store: corsages.

I guess I could have, and perhaps should have, walked into the wedding room to check out everything sold.  But there was someone in there at the time and I just felt like I would have been intruding upon a special moment.  We are on the verge of full swing wedding season in many Amish settlements (although the fall tends to be prime time in Amish settlements farther south).

Anyway, here are some scenes from Katie's Country Korner in Grabill, Indiana!katies
