Granola.
It's a food I'm ambivalent about, probably due to eating too many dry, crumbly Nature Valley granola bars over the years. On a couple of occasions I've had homemade granola, it's toasty smell wafting up from the oven and, man, that is good stuff. Granola recipes never do terribly well when I post them on Amish365, I suspect, for the same ambivalence I have about it.
The Mennonite-owned "Home Place"store in Georgetown, Ohio has made a mark for itself with it's "Tried and True" granola brand which I was thrilled to see available online now.
The Schlabach's Tried & TrueTriple Treat Granola...
Their Triple Treat Granola is especially popular with white chocolate, walnuts and cranberries added to the original recipe...man, that is good stuff (I've had some). I try to bring Plain food experiences to people who might not normally get them and if you live in a part of the world where that experience isn't' available to you, you can try granola made from Susan Schlabach's family recipes with their Tried and True brand. Check out their store here. (not getting an affiliate commission or anything to promote, I just like the product!)
Okay, now that I have you a granola frame of mind here are some recipes:
ROSANNA'S GRANOLA GRANDE:Â This is an amazing recipe for the homemade stuff!
MRS. STUTZMAN'S HOMEMADE HONEY GRANOLA: This is the recipe we have tried at home and it is amazing, makes your whole house smell amazing and it'll be gone the morning you make it!
HOMEMADE GRANOLA BARS:Â I had some of these in a Swartzentruber Amish home once and..wow...amazing...click here.
GLORIA'S BUTTERSCOTCH GRANOLA:Â Another amazing recipe!
Amish-made granola, with M&Ms...
HOMEMADE M & M GRANOLA BARS:Â Okay, the M&Ms would negate anything "healthy" about the recipe, but these are good!
