Some Amish were attacked late Sunday in a series of incidents.  Masked men in a slow-moving vehicle attacked buggies with baseball bats and ransacked some Amish businesses.  Authorities are investigating and considering it a hate crime. (As an aside, I'm always uncomfortable with the term "hate crime."
A crime is a crime, hate seems to me to be an emotion...and while hate is never a good emotion, legislating an emotion is tricky...it shouldn't be a crime to hate, it should be a crime to act on that hate, but then the action is the crime itself....just my two cents) Â Anyway - this is pure, rank speculation on my part, I may be totally wrong here - but this almost sounds like an "inside job."
To clarify, it almost sounds to me like this could be disgruntled ex-church members. Â This is a very rural area, you have to know it well and to target the businesses on Sunday almost seems to be a statement in itself. Â Again, could be wrong. But let's hope they catch the perpetrators fast! Click here for full details.

Seems like the bad apples creep out of the woodwork when the weather gets hot. There is a chance that it was young guys just being drunk and stupid..alot of that goes on around here in the summer. But ball bats? A bit extreme,I'd say! I hope they're caught soon!!

This is disturbing. There is a lot of drug activity in that area. There was a huge bust down in Newbury last week, one of the biggest dealers in the counrty. I would point my finger in that direction first. Maybe they were looking for quick cash.
An inside job could be possible, but there are many dots to be connected in the news story. Were the victims related somehow? If so how? W Are they co-workers?
Another possibility is some Mullet followes seeking revenge for something.
Thankfully no one was gravely hurt in all this. Hopefull they get caught before someone does get hurt worse,or a horse gets spooked and gets injured or needs to be put down.
Hope law enforcement does take this seriously, especially Sunday with church and visiting.

Betsy, interesting thoughts...the thought of Mullet followers did cross my mind....

this is too awful to even imagine. peace loving and quick to forgive people treated like this.
I too was wondering about how the victims might be connected/related. I am yet to get the link to work to read more so I guess I will have to wait for answers.
