Pioneer Meets Amish: Strawberry Shortcake Cake

    Published: Jun 7, 2013 · Updated: Feb 2, 2021 by Kevin Williams | 2 Comments

Gasp, my wife made a recipe out of a cookbook other than the Amish Cook's??  Blasphemy!  Just kidding, there are a ton of good recipes in this world and the Pioneer Woman (Ree Drummond) has quite a few.  Lovina even has one of her books so Pioneer Woman makes the grade!  And besides Rachel DID use Amish-grown strawberries from Wayne County, Indiana for this cake so this isn't totally off topic.  The cake was the occasion for her father's 60th birthday day and, wow, what a decadent way to celebrate. I told her that might have to be on MY birthday wish list for this year!:)  Look at this gorgeous cake!  And to get the recipe?  SIGH, I'll have to send you over to the Pioneer Woman for that, but come back!:)  Below is my slice of cake bliss.:

Mmm, that looks yummy. The berries are finally available up here (the real, fresh ones). And yes, the Pioneer Woman has great recipes too. And she understands feeding farmers 🙂

This cake looks even better than the one in Ree's cookbook. Very homey and yummy.
