    Renegade Amish - Preview

bookie (1)Oh, geez.  I need to do some reading. Some serious reading.  I feel like since Aster was born that I just don't have time.  I'm not complaining. I LOVE being a Dad, but how the heck to parents find time to do anything? Especially a pleasure pursuit like reading?  In my case it is also a work pursuit.   Fore pure pleasure, I started a Stephen King novel recently when I had a week with a bit more free time, but I got half way through and am just stuck once I got busier.  But then I got Richard Stevick's book "Growing up Amish" in the mail, which I need to read and review.  I have a book about growing up Mennonite that someone sent me that I need to read and review, plus some Amish fiction galleys I need to, yes, read and review.   As if that isn't enough I opened my mailbox today and there was:  Renegade Amish, a book by the dean of Amish academia: Donald Kraybill.   The book looks awesome and I CANNOT wait to read it.  But when???  Rachel got me a book light for Father's Day so I can read at night, but then I get so sleepy after a few pages that I don't get very far.  Sooo, I am going to have to carve out some reading time over the weeks ahead and clear this book backlog.  But in the meantime you can order this title from Amazon.  I have just briefly flipped through the book and it looks great.  The book is about, as the cover suggests, the "Amish" in Bergholz, Ohio who went rogue.  Just a scan of the contents makes it clear that Kraybill, as usual, really delves into the backstory of this unusual "Amish" group.   Stay tuned for more once I wade into the book!
