Scenes from an Amish bakery: If you find yourself in the Berne, Indiana area, you might just want to check out Countrylane Bakery and Gifts. Â This is a tiny bakery by Amish standards.
"We baked about 15 pies the day before Thanksgiving," says owner Marie Graber, which was a busy day. Â Of course 15 would be laughably low for some of the bigger Amish bakeries. Â But Marie says the bakery is more of just a hobby for her and daughters. Â Marie grew up learning to cook and bake and Countrylane is a way for her to share her talents with others. Â The bakery consists of a couple of tables filled with the day's goodies and some shelves displaying gifts, homemade noodles, candies, and some other surprises.
To get there, enter 4224 S 450 W into your GPS and enjoy the lazy country roads with scenes of horse-drawn buggies, one-room Amish schools, and colorful laundry flapping on the lines.
The bakery is tiny, but all the goodies are produced on premises in a health department certified and inspected kitchen. Â She serves Amish classics like cinnamon rolls and monster cookies, but also some items that are more difficult to find: tubs of homemade Amish "peanut butter fluff" (church spread), homemade noodles, and candies. Â Plus there are some hand-made dolls for sale.
There are some peach fry pies she had for sale. Â Yes, I love fry pies, ESPECIALLY peach.
I like the attention to sanitation that Marie Graber adheres to. Â Notice the cases all of the items are stored under. Â And when I decided to get some cookies for the road, Marie put on a pair of plastic gloves and walked over to the case to box up the cookies. Â It's just nice to see the details like that being taken care of. Â Good Amish bakeries are fairly plentiful, but finding one that really does it right, pays attention to the details, etc, those are a bit more rare and this is one of them! Â Some other sweet scenes:

I am a new subscriber to your website. I do enjoy it......but,Ihave constant ads popping up on the screen, and it makes your good work very frustrating to concentrate on. Do others have that same problem? Or,can I do something to get rid of these ads on your site? I'm not real techy! Thanks
