This is one of my favorite images from Amish Cooks Across America. It was a brutally hot day in the Amish community of Flat Rock, Illinois during the summer of 2011. But that didn't stop people from working out in the fields. Rachel and I were driving along when I saw a small water cooler hanging from a telephone pole near the road. I had Rachel snap a photo or two of it. But then we came across some young men working in the field. I asked him if that was his water jug hanging from the pole and asked if it was okay to photograph it (I was fairly certain it wasn't taboo to photograph a cooler, but I always like to ask permission!). The young man affirmed that it was his. He kept the cooler hanging from a strategically located telephone pole so he wouldn't have to lug it around as he plowed, yet it was still convenient to grab throughout the afternoon. Then the boy asked if we'd like to get his photo with the cooler. It was a beautiful serene setting so I didn't turn it down. I had him go ask his older siblings for permission, which they granted. So the boy ran to get the cooler and sat on the sulky and gave us this gorgeous shot.

I got a solicitation from Rodale Cookbooks for an "Amish Cooks Family Favorite Recipes". They used the name Lovinia in the flyer many times. Is this "Our" Lovinia ? What is this cookbook?
Thank you for your reply.

It is just an abridged compilation of all four of our hardcover books, so if you have those books you probably don't need that one...If you don't have those, that will be a nice book....
