Amish Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cookies
By Kevin Williams
(BLOGROLL UPDATE: Â Yesterday, in Blogroll I had posted a quirky thing about something that showed up in my feed....a teenager girl doing a YouTube video teaching us how to make Amish Chocolate Chip cookies...but there's no baking in the video, she's just sort of doing a recipe monologue....so if you want to see it, the link was missing yesterday, here it is.....)
I shared a recipe earlier today for "Sour Cream Pumpkin Coffeecake", but there's another classic that can be infused with the flavorful hints of sour cream: chocolate chip cookies. Yum. Â This recipe comes from way, way back in the Amish365 archives....back in 2002. Â Amish cooks often have a good amount of sour cream on hand from milk gone bad but while it may not be something you want to drink or eat directly, it can infuse baked goods with superb flavor.
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 8 ounces sour cream
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 cups flour
- 12 ounces chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine ingredients in order listed and mix
- well, until dough is smooth and chocolate chips are evenly mixed.
- Drop cookie dough by tablespoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
