This is an old photo that I took back in the summer of 1991 near where Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio meet, actually close to the towns of Camden and Reading. This is actually a photo of a photo, some the image quality is degraded a bit. Some of our more farm familiar readers might be able to tell us what this is. Looks like an old open cart with maybe a sprayer tank of some sort on the back? I'm not sure and I can't remember. I was on assignment for a magazine called Michigan Country Lines. Remarkably, the magazine still exists. This is an area, by the way, that has been seeing a slow, steady growth in its Amish population. There's been an Amish presence for years in this area, but Amish communities farther west in southern Michigan are growing in size more rapidly.

It does look like a sprayer. Could be for almost anything even portable irrigation. I've seen similar setups for use with tractors but not recently. When I was growing up(in the 70's and 80's) lots of people around here (E. TN) raised tobacco on a smaller scale than is done most places now and some used something akin to this to spray it. Just an educated guess though so I could be totally wrong!

looks like the weed sprayer that was used after the crops got too tall to use the cultivator.
