And now we head towards the next holiday. I know everyone is still in their food comas from Thanksgiving, so I thought now, while the stuffing leftovers are still in the fridge, now would be a good time to look at what recipes are already trending for Christmas:

Amish Mashed Potato Candy: If you have leftover taters from Thanksgiving, you can use them up in this: I have to admit I had never heard of "mashed potato candy" until I encountered it an Amish bakery in New York several years ago. I thought maybe it was called that just because it looked like mashed potatoes. So I asked the Amish baker if the candy really contained mashed potatoes and she assured me that it did. So she gave me a few pieces to take home and was nice enough to share the recipe with all of us. Click here for Amish Mashed Potato Candy.
Amish Cashew Crunch: I'm not sure how the recipe caught on among the Amish, but it really has. Some even call it "Amish crack," because it is downright addictive. It is good stuff, such a treat. This is some cashew crunch I recently got at an Amish bakery in Highland County, Ohio. Below is an Amish cashew crunch recipe for the stuff that comes from an Amish woman in Tennessee. Holiday Pumpkin Cake: This cake has, at various times, been called "Amish Christmas Pumpkin Cake", but then people get mad at me for excluding other religions, so I call it "holiday cake" and then people get mad at me for that. Amish Marshmallow Pie: A delicious pie. Marshmallows are a sweet, festive food for all seasons, whether they be roasted over a summer campfire or enjoyed melted in a hot cup of winter cocoa. This is a recipe for marshmallow pie that came to me from an Amish woman in Illinois. It is a wonderful pie for the holiday season, sweet and packed full of marshmallow flavor. Rachel made a marshmallow pie this week using the recipe below and it tastes as good as these photos look. If you are a marshmallow lover, you won't want to skip this recipe.
