    🥄 Trending Amish Sides

Big Mac Dressing: I've written before that Amish cooks love "copycat" recipes: whether that be a recipe for homemade "Pizza Hut breadsticks," or homemade "Heinz" catsup.  But here's something I hadn't run into before: Big Mac Dressing.  This looks like an attempt to mimic the McDonald's "special sauce." Check out this recipe.

    Delicious scalloped potatoes

Classic Scalloped Potatoes: Check out this perfect Thanksgiving side! Of course, just slicing up and frying potatoes is a very common way to eat them. But these Classic Scalloped Potatoes are the best! This scalloped potato recipe can be personalized a bit. For instance, you could dice some onions into it, or add some garlic powder. This is the perfect side dish for the big three holidays - Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving - but also for summer potlucks and picnics! Click here for the recipe.

    🍲 Trending Amish Meals

Amish Farmhouse Corn Casserole: This is a delicious one, read more about it here: Corn dishes are very popular on Amish Thanksgiving tables.  Corn adds color and depth to the variety of foods served and, man, count me as a corn fan.  Corn bulked up with cracker crumbs and flavored with butter and salt....heaven...and this corn casserole fits that bill.   And, for me, it does one better..it uses "creamed corn."  I don't think I've eaten creamed corn in 30 years.  My grandmother would always buy cans of it for me when I was a kid because she knew I liked it. Just for nostalgia's sake I may have to get some someday. So if you are looking for a popular, easy side dish for your Thanksgiving table, look no further. Click here for the recipe.

    Yumasetti
Yumasetti is a popular Amish dish.

Amish Yummasetti Casserole: This is delicious, an Amish classic, click here for the recipe.

One-Pot Chicken Stew: an autumn classic:

This Amish one-pot chicken stew is one of these hearty recipes sent to me from an Amish cook named Edna Miller in Kentucky.  Perfect to simmer on the stove on a crisp autumn day like today!  Edna writes:

"I like to leave this simmering on the stove-top for a good hour or so, makes the house smell delicious!   We use our own broth leftover from butchering day!"

Top with whipped cream and enjoy the chocolate dream!

Amish Chocolate Dream Pie: Wow, this is so good. Might want to consider it for your Thanksgiving menu! This is a classic Amish pie: light, creamy, and easy to make from ingredients you probably already have in your pantry. So if you are looking for a quick dessert, this is a good one.  Be sure to top your pie with either homemade whipping cream or just the stuff from a can (that is what we did).    Click here for the recipe.

Super Moist Chocolate Cake: And, of course, you can never go wrong with a perfect chocolate cake recipe. Click here.
