It's Saturday, which means time for trending recipes! We have a good mix of summer seasonal, delicious desserts, and hearty suppers trending right now. Let's pounce into it:
AMISH MASHED POTATO CAKE: A moist, amazing recipe. This is a really interesting recipe that comes to me from an Amish woman in Holmes County, Ohio! Using up leftover mashed potatoes is not unusual for an Amish homemaker. The most common way to use them is to simply fry them up as patties the next day. If there are leftover veggies from supper the night before, they’ll often mix those into the patty and have sort of an ‘everything-in-one’ patty. But using leftover mashed potatoes in a cake?? HOMEMADE MIRACLE WHIP: Looking for a homemade version of this zippy dressing? Click here
SWISS SPINACH BAKE: This is a good stand-alone meatless meal. Try it. Click here.
HOMEMADE BLACKBERRY PIE: Top with a scoop of ice cream and call it summer! Click here.
AMISH WEDDING CAKE: This cake is one for the ages, it makes a wedding memorable because it is so delicious! This is unusual to find a printed recipe for a scratch-made Amish wedding cake, so I’m excited to share this with you. This is in an old Amish cookbook. The recipe was submitted by a Mrs. Jacob Hershberger in Gladwin, Michigan. Cake customs vary from Amish community to Amish community. This cake sounds simple, not sure what differentiates it from an ordinary cake, i.e., what makes it a “wedding cake” per se. Click here.
CARMON'S COUNTY FAIR PRIZE-WINNING ZUCCHINI: Another cake that screams summer!
AMISH DILLY BREAD: Great way to use your garden dill! Click here.
MENNONITE PAN-FRIED CHICKEN: Flavorful, wonderful chicken creation!
