I've been blessed with the opportunity to see Amish settlements first-hand from the most remote reaches of Montana, to the lush blueberry barrens of Maine, Â from cheese country of Wisconsin, to the citrus groves of Florida.
Sometimes I just like to peruse photos of these journeys. Â The photos often can convey more than writing thousands of words could. Â So let's start out in Wisconsin. Â The first photo is of plow-power as pulled by horses and a funny sign spotted at an Amish business.
The third photo is of men working at in the fields at an Amish settlement in Tennessee.  The fourth photo shows an Amish woman using pedal power to prowl around the Amish enclave of Pinecraft, Florida. And  also belowÂ
is an Amish school in one of my favorite Amish communities: wheat Ridge, Ohio.

The last one gave me a chuckle!

The last sign shows the wry humor of many of the Amish. They are not a humorless people; it just needs an open mind to realize it sometimes. They are just folks. Their beliefs and way of life are different is all. Actually, it's not that different from other beliefs and ways of life before telephones and electricity became widely available. WE are the ones who moved on, and unfortunately that is not a great recommendation for modern living.
