    Vanceburg, Kentucky: Amish Oatmeal

    Published: Feb 4, 2013 · Updated: Feb 2, 2021 by Kevin Williams | 3 Comments

Western Kentucky has been experiencing tremendous growth in its Amish population over the past 20 years, but the growth has now been seen across the Bluegrass State including in parts of the state where the Amish presence has been minimal.  One of the newer communities is located in the hilly expanses outside Vanceburg where 18 Amish families now call the area home.  This comfort food classic comes to us from that settlement.  If anyone has been to the Vanceburg community, let us know!

      sounds good.......
we don't use sugar of any type.....
      or salt...
just cinnamon and little splenda......fruit on the side.
also dry.........no liquids added after cooking.
my husband makes oatmeal on the weekends, sometimes
      pancakes....
I have to admit this oatmeal recipe sounds great!

I'm not a big oatmeal fan, but I have to admit that this sounds delicious.

I suspect there is an error in this recipe. Baking this amount of oatmeal at this temperature in this size pan for the stated time could make for a hard, burned product. I tried this recipe using a much smaller pan and a shorter baking time, and had good results.
