Okay, I realize it's Monday when I'm posting the weekend blogroll, but sometimes the weekend is too busy and it becomes the "Monday blogroll", but enjoyable just the same, I hope. Let's look at a few items of interest I was able to find:
INTERESTING IMAGES: These images lack much context, but there are a couple of gems among them. I love the picture of the family of Amish snowmen. That's classic. Perhaps the image that I found the most thought-provoking, though, is of a group young Amish ladies using the photo-ordering kiosk at Wal-Mart. The photo illustrates the complicated relationship the Amish have with photos and technology all in one fell swoop. As we know, most Amish churches still forbid photography. But many individuals don't have a big problem with it so there is a wide spread in theology versus practice (that is the case in many churches, not just the Amish). Of course, these Amish girls could just be ordering photos of scenery scenes they look while on vacation. But it looks like they are quite comfortable with the computer kiosk, which illustrates another complicated relationship in Amish life: computers. More and more Amish are using them in some capacity and that has caused fault lines within the church which will probably need to be formally addressed some day. Click here to view these photos.
MORE AMISH BAKED CHICKEN: I featured a baked chicken recipe a few weeks ago on blogroll, but this one looks a little different so thought I would share. Click here to enjoy!
OLD-FASHIONED CRACKER PUDDING: This is an old, classic Amish/Pennsylvania Dutch recipes. You don't see this as much any more so when I saw this posted I pounced on it to share with all of you. It's an interesting recipe (I'm not a raisin fan, so I'd probably leave those out) Click here for the recipe!
AMISH FICTION: For those of you who enjoy Amish fiction, there's a new blog that reviews and features favorites in that genre. Hey, why am I not featured on there!:) Click here to check out the blog!
