Okay, it is Saturday, which means it is time for "weekend blogroll" where we peruse anything and everything written during the past week about Amish or Plain culture.
DODGING BUGGIES: These out-of-towners were caught off guard at night by an Amish buggy traveling without the orange safety triangle on the back. If I had to guess - based on their post - they stumbled into a Swartzentruber Amish settlement in southern Wayne County. Of course the Swartzentruber Amish reject the orange safety triangle instead opting for grey reflective tape. These buggies are much more difficult to see at night, so the blogger shares a valuable lesson. Click here for more!
AMISH ROOTS: This is a collection of really neat photos from a one-generation removed from the Amish woman. She is wanting to share a photo essay of Amish life as they really are, not as seen in "Breaking Amish." I applaud this. I love the photo of the silver drink cups (presumably at a school) with all the children's names taped on them. Such a simple scene that speaks volumes. Love the photos! Click here to enjoy.
SOUTHERN MEETS AMISH: Interesting blog premise...sort of a southern girl who moves to Lancaster County and shares her experiences, although, technically Lancaster County is pretty darn close to the South. Ask General Grant, he pushed all the way into Gettysburg: Click here to see some of her neat photos and read the blog.
EASY AMISH CINNAMON BREAD: This blogger shares a tasty-sounded recipe for Amish cinnamon bread. I REALLY like the sound of this recipe because does look super easy - and delicious. Click here to see the recipe.
