Good Saturday to one and all! Time to do our weekly exploration of the blogosphere to see everything and anything written about the Plain people over the past week. Got some great stuff to share so let's get right to it.
MENNONITE WEDDING: First of all, Tom the Backroads Traveller outdid himself this week: photos - respectful, permission-granted photos - from a Mennonite wedding against the stunning backdrop of some frozen falls in Pennsylvania. The photos are gorgeous and, like Tom, the photos sort of make one wistful for youth and young love. Click here to enjoy these photos. I will say the people in these photos aren't dressed THAT differently than what you'd see in an Amish wedding party, so this must be a pretty conservative Mennonite group, although the fact that formal wedding photos are being taken also illustrates that they are a bit more progressive than your most conservative Mennonites. Did you follow that?:)
YELLOW ROSE: This is a fascinating blog. I've not made contact with the young woman that writes it but, best I can tell, she isn't Amish, but she lives a very Plain existence. That trend is becoming increasingly common. I've written about the Amish in Beeville, Texas before. That is the Lone Star State's only Amish settlement, although I am aware - possibly - of one Amish family that still lives around Grandview. Anyway, Texas isn't a place that has a large Plain population. This young woman lives simply and has Old Order Amish friends that have visited her and worshipped with her in Texas. It all sounds fascinating to me and I hope to get more information from her soon. Click here to read about her recent Amish visitors to her Texas home and click here to read about her attendance at an Amish wedding last spring.
GROWING UP MORMISH: I highlighted this blog a few months ago, thought I'd highlight it again...fun to read about a family sort of incorporating Amish principles into their Mormon faith.
CHOCOLATE AMISH FRIENDSHIP BREAD: Okay, just when I thought I'd be too bored of friendship bread recipes to ever post one again, I discover CHOCOLATE Amish Friendship Bread posted on a blog....yum oh yum...can you really go wrong adding chocolate to anything?? Click here for the recipe.

Kevin thanks so much for the link. I was in at the right place at the right time last Saturday. I hope your readers enjoy my view from the backroads.
