Weekly Blogroll: A New Cheryl Painting, Amish in Black and White, Double-Crunch Onion Rings and More!

MeeMaw's Double Crunch Onion Rings:  I got some onion rings are Burger King recently and, dang, they were so stingy with them.  The onion rings were tiny and the container was about half full.  No, if I am going to get onion rings, I want big, crunchy rings.

    These look pretty perfect!

The casual dining chain, Red Robin, has consistently good onion rings.   But, wow, these double crunch onion rings from MeeMaw look amazing (MeeMaw is a food blogger in Kalona, Iowa, home of the state's largest Amish settlement and their influence does often seep into her cooking and baking).  Click here for her amazing recipe for double-crunch onion rings!

Cheryl McNulty Amish Art:  Ah, the next best thing to comfort food during a pandemic?  Comfort creations.  I was hoping Cheryl would start a new one, and she has.  Check out this Amish girl, she just has her sorta sketched out, I'll be eager to see where it ends up. Click here to see the start of what will, I am sure, be a beautiful painting!

Amish in Black and White:  I haven't linked to Tom the Backroads Traveller in a while, but he often posts some beautiful Amish scenes, take a look at one of his recent posts!

Dessert Recipes From Lehman's:  Lehman's is that mainstay of Ohio's Amish country and off-the-grid survivalists. I could - and have - spend hours aimlessly wandering the aisles of this amazing and sprawling hardware/home store in Kidron, Ohio.  You do get a good mix of customers there, from local Amish browsing for essentials to the survivalists to the tourists.   The company founder's granddaughter posted several amazing-sounding dessert recipes from a recent Lehman's cookbook. Click here for three sweet treats, wow, the carrot cake looks superb.

Amish Casserole:  Found this on a blog, simply "Amish Casserole."  Casserole recipes like this are a dime-a-dozen in Amish cookbooks, packed full of off-the-shelf, easy ingredients, perfect for comfort during a pandemic. Click here to enjoy!
