With winter's thumb firmly planted on our part of the United States, I'm gravitating towards bright, colorful recipes that give us a splash of summer. Man, I am already looking forward to the first warm breezes and dandelions of spring! Until then, here's some relief:
MEE MAW'S PASTA: Meemaw blogs from from Kalona, Iowa, the largest Amish community in that state. Many of her recipes show off the area's Amish ambiance, but Meemaw is also just an awesome cook who can rock it no matter what she makes and this pasta dish is Exhibit A. Wow, it looks good. I wonder if we could hold the anchovies? Anyway, click here for the recipe to this amazing-looking pasta supper!
PINECRAFT WARMTH: Ah, it is the time of year when I share Katie Troyer's dispatches from the Amish enclave of Pinecraft, Florida where Plain people gather under the warm sun to escape winter's wrath. I've pulled out a couple of good posts, look at this relaxed Amish couple waiting for the northbound bus. They'll return to their farm tan and relaxed. And Kate Troyer's post focusing on Amish men. Ok. Click here.
WINTER MUSINGS: Gotta get my Bruce Stambaugh fix, now you can have it also. He's a wonderful writer and a thoughtful chronicler of Amish, nature, and life after decades spent living and teaching in Holmes County, Ohio. Click here to read his thoughts on winter color.
BLOG SPIN:
AMISH BAKED CORN - Mmmmm, this just looks so, so good and so easy.... may just have to make this one. Click here.
