Okay, time for our weekly whirl through the blogosphere in search of anything and everything Amish!
AN AMISH LOVE STORY: Perfect for Valentine's Day, read a tale from Amish Indiana about a true Amish romance that spanned states. As Susan points out in her post, it is relatively rare for the Amish to move between communities. For instance, an Amish person in Lancaster, Pennsylvania doesn't often marry someone from Holmes County, Ohio where the customs and language would be slightly different. The Amish tend to stay within their insular groups. But not in this love story, check it out here.
Wow, this looks good! Orange glazed pound cake.
ORANGE GLAZED POUND CAKE: Man, this looks good. I mean, the orange pound cake part I'm like..meh...but when you dump glaze over it....wow, outstanding! Click here for this amazing recipe from Amish Cooking (I have that book and it is full of wonderful recipes!). Click here for orange glazed pound cake!
WINTER WARM-UP CHILI: Meemaw blogs from Kalona, Iowa (but she is Florida now, lucky!) and shared this super "winter warm up chili" recipe. My slogan: if meemaw made it, it has to be amazing! Click here for the recipe.
CHICKEN DISH: This is a Mennonite chicken recipe that was posted on Charm City Ramblings, check it out here.
THE AMISH OF ENON VALLEY, PA: Erik Wesner visited the Enon Valley Amish community in Pennsylvania. This is a community that I've never been to and a cold, snowy twilight, Erik paid a visit and came away with some good photos. Note the rare yellow buggies (banana buggies, some call them) that are found here. Click here for this interesting post.
