homemade blueberry delight...
BLUEBERRY DELIGHT: Delights are so popular among the Amish: strawberry delights, rhubarb delights, etc...another summer delight that is popular: blueberry delight. So, wow, when I saw this on Dixie's Kitchen it brought back so many memories of delight dishes at Amish gatherings. Blueberry delight may be my favorite kind of delight of all (delights are these delicious, layered with whipped cream, pie filling, type things) Just amazing, so check out Dixie's recipe for Blueberry Delight!
ZUCCHINI STUFFED BREAD: Gina at Home Joys shares a delicious-sounding recipe for "zucchini stuffed bread" and who doesn't have zucchinis galore at this time of year? Click here for the recipe.
WET GRANOLA: I was skeptical when I saw this...I mean, I LOVE crunchy granola, but, wet? Apparently so. Check out Gina's recipe for wet granola here.
BRUCE STAMBAUGH: I love his writing. Bruce spent most of his adult life living and learning and teaching among the Amish in Holmes County, Ohio and his writing is reflective of his poetic life outlook. Click here to read his ode to the dog days of summer.
AMISH FOOD STORE FOR SALE: An Amish family in Perry County, PA put their market up for sale. I've noticed that so many Amish stores have these bland-sounding names like "Cedar Woods" or "Whispering Pines" or, in this case, Stoney Ridge Foods. I think as a general rule maybe some Amish don't like to name businesses after themselves, although I have seen plenty that do attach their names to them, so not sure what's with some of these very milquetoast sounding business names. Anyway, click here to see a lot of good photos of this market.
