We have some fun stuff in this week's blogroll, so let's get right to it!
Butterscotch spice cake with glaze
BUTTERSCOTCH SPICE CAKE WITH BUTTERSCOTCH GLAZE: I go to Patricia's Patchwork website a lot because she is frequently doing Amish recipes which goes great with Amish365, but occasionally she'll post one too good sounding not to share even though the recipe itself isn't Amish. This week's recipe fits into that mold: man, I LOVE anything butterscotchy or spice-cake-ish, so to have two of them married into one cake. Mmmmm, Click here for the recipe!

THE ROLE OF AMISH WOMEN: Erik Wesner posted a short (less than 3 minute) audio clip of an Amish husband and wife discussing the role of women in the church. It's an interesting exchange, I'll let Erik take it from here.
KATIE TROYER
AMISH CHURCH BREAD: I'm not sure I've ever heard of "church bread". But Katie Troyer posts some photos - not a recipe - but, ugh, look how she eats the pretty. Sorry, peanut butter, ham, pickles...um...doesn't sound good to me. Click here to see.

INDOOR CAMPFIRE SUPPER: Katie Troyer was raised Amish and although she is not a member of the church anymore she does maintain close relationships with her Amish family in Holmes County. While she typically chronicles Florida in her blog this week she is sharing posts from Ohio's Amish country. Read about an "indoor campfire supper" and see some great photos here.
UPDATE ON HOME JOYS: Mennonite blogger Gina and her husband Ed have been handling his brain cancer with grace and humility, get an update here. And keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Her latest postings seem to show Ed holding his own quite well.
BLOG SPIN: AMISH COOKIES - Okay, I spun the wheel and these "Amish Cookies" sound amazing. Add buttermilk to anything and it's amazing, but these cookies sound outstanding. This is sort of one of these "everything but the kitchen sink" cookies common in Amish kitchens. Click here for the recipe.
Nana
A day late with my answer but yes I have heard squalling baby all of my life. but usually in tandem with bawlin' as in bawlin' squallin" babies. Incidentally one of my frequent sandwiches is peanut butter and dill pickle . My kids took that in their school lunches as well. Although it sounds a bit strange they actually compliment each other.

LOL, I'll take your word for it on the peanut butter and pickles, Nana!
