We have a few fun things this week from our weekly whirl through the blogosphere in search of everything and anything Plain.  First stop, Patricia and her Patchwork Quilt blog which offers up an amazing sounding Amish recipe today!

Amish Pumpkin Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies!

PUMPKIN OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES:  I am sure these cookies are amazing any time of year but infusing them with pumpkin around autumn: pure genius.  Check out this Amish recipe here!

DIRT PUDDING:  This recipe has been around a long time and seemed to enjoy novelty popularity back in the 90s.  I remember when my parent fixed this for some unsuspecting friends.  I think my parents went so far as to serve it in a flower pot, or a dish that looked like a flower pot.   So it was sitting on the table and when my Dad started scooping dessert from it for the guests there were some gasps!  Click here to see MeeMaw's version of this classic!

LOVE BY THE NUMBERS:  Check out a book review of Laura Hilton's newest Amish-themed book, Love By the Numbers.

AUTHENTIC AMISH/PA DUTCH HOLIDAY RECIPES:  Our friends at Dutchcrafters, the largest online home for Amish furniture, and a sponsor of this site, have some great Amish/PA Dutch holiday recipes in this post....a couple of the recipes are not Amish, but pay close attention to the "Dutch Goose" recipe, I loved seeing that because that traditionally was an alternative to Thanksgiving turkey and the  Zwiebach is a traditional Low German Mennonite roll and I was excited to see the recipe, because you don't see that too often. So click here to enjoy and explore Dutchcrafters site!

MISSISSIPPI AMISH:  I love it when the Southern Fried Kudzu site visits Mississippi's lone Amish community near Pontotoc, the photos are super!  So, if you're like me, and don't think you are going to make it to Pontotoc any time soon, check out a photo  tour of the community here!
