Weekly Blogroll: Homemade Brownies, Velvet Chocolate Cake, Pumpkindoodles, and More!

Have some fun posts this week that are packed full of deliciousness.

HOMEMADE BROWNIES:  Homemade brownies are so basic, so common that I almost didn't share this post.  But, in my experience, if an Amish cook has the recipe chances are its a keeper.  So if you just want a basic brownie recipe from an Amish cook, give this one a try. The recipe comes from a book called "The Byler Chicks Cooking”.  How can you go wrong with that!

AMISH VELVET CHOCOLATE CAKE:   Like the brownies, this is another exceedingly easy, dime-a-dozen type recipe, but it in the hands of an Amish cook it's probably amazing, check out this recipe from The Amish Side of Me.

COMING AND GOING:  Check out the comings and goings with the Pioneer Bus in Pinecraft, Florida and, whew, no, that is not a coffin (although the bus usually does transport a few empty ones down from time to time so Amish residents there have the simple, handmade kind they favor)...anyway, click here to see Katie Troyer's latest.

ROMANTIC BUGGY RIDES:  Those who read my book, Abraham's Redemption, know that a buggy ride can be romantic.  Of course, it can also be....not so romantic.  Thomas Nye covers all sides of this topic in his Amish Horses blog, click here.

When Snickerdoodles meet October they become "Pumpkindoodles!"

When Snickerdoodles meet October they become "Pumpkindoodles!"

PUMPKINDOODLES:  Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow...I posted yesterday about that Amish classic, snickerdoodles, but did you know they can be infused with pumpkin?  I didn't.  Do that and you have "pumpkindoodles."  Check out the cookies and recipe here!
