Have some fun stuff on this week's Weekly Blogroll, so I'll silence my chatter and just get right to it!
ROASTED ACORN SQUASH STUFFED WITH TURKEY SAUSAGE, KALE AND GOAT CHEESE: That may hold the record for longest recipe title, but also one of the tastiest. I love the Lydia Glick site's journey into true authentic Amish culinary culture using old family recipes, good stuff! Check it out here.
HOMEMADE PIZZA BITES: Okay, this isn't an Amish recipe per se, but, YUM...makes me want to go out and buy a bag of pizza rolls sometime soon. Yum. Yum. Great recipe here for a homemade pizza bite. Pizza casseroles, pizza breads and pizzas in general are popular in Amish kitchens, so I am sure this one would be a hit too.
AMISH AND HEALTH CARE: This is an interesting read, a little hard to follow in places. I'm not sure I agree with all of the premises. But click here to read for yourself.
HIPSTER MENNONITES: There is sort of a "granola vibe" among some elements of the Mennonite community so in a way I'm not surprised to see this article. The Mennonites are historically a peace church and that can teeter close to the world of birkenstocks and trail mix. So click here to read about the sort of "hipster Mennonite vibe" seeping into some Mennonite congregations.
HUH? Okay, honestly, I didn't have time to explore this....maybe someone else does...part of some sort of online game? Click here to see what I mean.
