Amish Tomato Soup Cake

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cups sugars
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cloves (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ cup hot water

Instructions
 

  •   Mix first six ingredients in a large bowl.
     
  • Then dissolve baking soda in hot water and stir into the rest of the batter.
  • Spread into and a greased 9 X 9 pan and bake at 425 for 20 - 25 minutes.
  • Insert butter knife, if it comes out clean the cake is done.
