Amish Smothered Steaks

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound steaks, sliced ¼ inch thick
  • 1 stick butter 
  • ½ cup flour plus two tablespoons
  • 1   teaspoon salt 
  • ¼ teaspoons black pepper

Gravy

  • 1 tablespoon chicken gravy mix 
  • 1 tablespoon chicken base
  •   2   cups chicken broth
  • 2     cups water 
  • 1    tsp salt   
  • ¼ tsp pepper

Instructions
 

  • Melt one stick butter. Brown, then add ½ cup +2 Tbl all purpose flour, and brown slightly.
  • Mix flour-butter mixture with salt and pepper then dip each steak slice in this mixture.
  • Discard remaining flour.
  • Fry sliced steaks in a hot skillet in oil or butter.
  • Place in a baking dish and layer with the gravy.
  • For the easy way out just dump some cream of mushroom soup on top instead of making a gravy. Bake at 300 for 30 minutes or so. Delicious with mashed potatoes.
