Haitian Rice With Sauce
A traditional Haitian dish brought to the USA by Amish missionairies

Ingredients
Rice

water
1 1/ 2
cups
rice

tablespoons
olive oil
1 ½
teaspoons
chicken base
½
teaspoon
garlic powder
½
teaspoon
salt

cup
cooked pinto or black beans (opt)
Sauce
2
cups
pizza sauce
1
cup
chicken broth
¾
teaspoon
garlic powder
¾
teaspoon
salt
¾
teaspoon
black pepper
½
Tablespoon
real lemon
½
cup
chicken, diced
½
cup
potatoes, diced
½
cup
carrots, sliced
½
cup
cabbage, chopped
½
cup
onions, chopped
Instructions
Rice
Pour water, oil, and seasoning into a medium-sized pan.
Bringto boil, add rice. Stir then simmer for ten minutes.
DO NOT stir while simmering.
Remove from heat, cover and let set another ten minutes.
Fluff with a spoon and add beans. Spoon onto your plate and ladle a generous serving of the following sauce on top. Very good!
Sauce
Dump all together in a medium sized sauce pan.
Simmer until veggies are tender.
Pour over rice
