I have many favorite Amish restaurants but one of them is Yoder's in Sarasota, Florida. Yoder's is located in the Amish enclave of Pinecraft on Bahia Vista Blvd. It's a popular eatery with Amish and non-Amish alike. They are known for their fried chicken and pies, but they also offer homemade noodles, pancakes, and about any other stick-to-your ribs entree you can imagine. I've written about them before but it bears repeating that they serve amazing food at great prices. A couple of my good friends were there yesterday partaking in mashed potatoes, chicken, dumplings, and potato pancakes. Yum! Looks amazing doesn't it? Here is a recipe from my Amish archives for homemade potato pancakes, probably the same recipe used at Yoder's.
- HOMEMADE POTATO PANCAKES
- 2 cups of leftover mashed potatoes
- 2 tablespoons flour
- sprinkle of parsley
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon chopped onion
- Mix all ingredients together. Shape into pancakes and fry in lightly greased frying pan on medium high heat until golden brown on both sides.

My son lives pretty close to Yoders, I was there last July and he took me there for dinner, the food was pretty good, didn't care for their dessert tho....I can make better 🙂 He got peanut butter pie, and I had a taste of his, and I told him I could make them better....so when we got home, I made (2) peanut butter pies, and he agreed it was better 🙂
They have another Amish restaurant close to Yoder's kinda wished we'd gone there instead....
Has anyone eaten at the other Amish restaurant in Pinecraft, Florida ?
