Amish Gingerbread Cookies
A delicious Christmas tradition!

- 2 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ginger
- ⅓ cup sugar
- ½ cup shortening
- ½ cup molasses
- 3 tablespoons hot water
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
Blend well. Chill dough at least one hour before handling.
Roll out dough on floured surface to ⅛ of an inch of thickness.
Use gingerbread man cookie cutter.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
Cool and decorate.
