Amish Cheesy Cheddar Chowder

an amazingly hot and warm soup!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups diced potatoes
  • ½ cup diced carrots
  • ½ cup diced celery
  • ¼ cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

White Sauce

  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cubed ham or bacon

Instructions
 

Soup

  • Combine all ingredients in a large kettle. 
  • Boil 10 to 12 minutes.

White sauce

  • In a small saucepan melt the butter.
  • Add flour and stir until smooth (about 1 minute).
  • Slowly addmilk while stirring. Cook until thickened.  Add grated cheese and stir

Combining White Sauce and Veggies

  • Stir white sauce into undrained vegetable mixture. Heat throughout.
