    In Australia we do not use shortening, infact, I do not think I have even seen it in the supermarket. Is it possible to substitute the shortening for softened butter? I enjoy making cookies and would love to make these peanut butter ones, they look so delicious.

      Zelka, welcome to you down under! Yes, you can use softened butter in place of shortening. Just don’t use vegemite:) Just kidding! Good luck with the cookies!

        Thank you for the reply Kevin. I shall try to make these this weekend, by which time all the Easter sweets will be gone and something new to try. I am impressed that you know of Vegemite!!! I am sure that someone somewhere has tried to combine Vegemite and peanut butter but not me, lol.
