    Meatball Sandwich Casserole

    Published: Mar 25, 2017 · Updated: Mar 25, 2017 by Kevin Williams | Leave a Comment

    By Kevin Williams

This recipe shares similarities to The Amish Cook's Hamburger Sub Casserole which ran earlier this week.  The recipe is in the same genre, a quick throw together casserole in a time of need for someone in the community.  Now if you are non-Amish this recipe gets a bit more labor-intensive.  If you're an Amish cook you probably have some home-canned spaghetti sauce on the shelf and some homemade frozen meatballs on hand.  So you can make this recipe as easy as you want or as "scratch" as you want.  To make it easy on the average cook, the recipe below uses all bought ingredients.  But I have included a recipe for homemade Amish meatballs below.  So feel free to tweak to your taste.  Thank you reader Penny for making this for us!

    MEATBALL SANDWICH CASSEROLE

    1  bag of frozen meatballs
    1 jar of spaghetti sauce
    1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded Italian blend cheese
    ½ cup shredded parmesan cheese
1 loaf fresh Italian bread sliced.
    Preheat oven to 400.
Place frozen meatballs in sauce pan with spaghetti sauce and heat until warmed through stirring often to prevent meatballs from sticking together.
    Grease a 9 x 13 pan
Pour sauce and meatballs in centre of pan.
Sprinkle each variety of cheese over top in order as they appear above.
Take slices of bread and line the bap all around keeping the meatballs toward the center of the pan.
Bread will be standing up in the pan.
Bake for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
If you want to make your own meatballs for the casserole, try this Amish recipe!
