We've got some interesting stuff in this week's Amish in the News, so let's get right to it!
HUTTERITE SCHOOL: Okay, I know you all want recipes and I want you to have recipes, BUT, this is worth a read. Excellent, excellent article in the Great Falls Tribune about a day in a Hutterite school. This is good, good journalism that plumbs depths while still be respectful, textured, etc. And, man, after reading this I just felt like this teacher (and probably most) really earn their pay. Being a parent to two kids is tiring, exhausting at times. Being a teacher who has to be in charge of dozens each day? Wow. But this teacher on a Hutterite school wears so many hats....click here for a superb package of photos and a story, you definitely want to read this!Â
Laundry flaps on the line...who needs a dryer with a stiff breeze almost always blowing across the Illinois flatlands?
MILLIE'S AMISH CHRISTMAS PIE:  Ah, I'm happy my friend Millie posted this recipe. Christmas pie is a hit in Amish homes this time of year and it will be in yours too. Check out the latest with Millie this week and get her famous recipe!
AMISH AND MENTAL HEALTH:  The Amish definitely experience mental issues, I've seen it first-hand. But help is often less accessible in the more insular communities. Northern Indiana offers some of the best mental health care for the Amish, read this excellent article here.
AMISH SEWAGE DISPUTE IN MINNESOTA: This case has been wending its way through the courts. I have mixed feelings. Click here.
HOMEMADE PUMPKIN PIE ROLL:Â You have to scroll down a bit, but our wonderful affiliate newspaper in York, Nebraska published a recipe from our Amish Cook archives for homemade pumpkin pie roll, a good end-of-season way to enjoy pumpkin click here!
