This Amish recipe comes to us from an Amish woman in Maryland. Sounds easy and delicious! And this is about as an easy Amish pork chop recipe that you'll get! Pork chops are the definition of comfort food on a crisp autumn evening!

Caption: thanks, Dad, for the photos, he still gets a little sloppy with the shadows sometimes, but we get the idea, it looks tasty!
Pork chops are a favorite cut of meat in Amish kitchens. There are so many different ways to fix them: golden pan-seared pork chops. Or smothered in brown gravy pork chops. Or just rolled in a flour mixture and fried. Usually, pork is plentiful on Amish farms because either they have their own hogs or access to them through friends and family. And the pork chop is a tasty, hearty cut of meat. Nobody cooks pork chops like a skilled Amish cook!
A really juicy pork chop is great as is, but with a few extra ingredients, it can be even better.
This recipe for Easy Amish Pork Chops is, as the name implies, easy. Five ingredients. That’s it.
If you stick with these five ingredients, which include the pork chops, you’ll get a delicious supper. Now, can you add other stuff? Of course. Sprinkle on some pepper flake, garlic powder, or onion powder for a little zip. Or mix some honey or barbecue sauce to the ketchup mixture for a little additional flavor for this pork chop recipe. A dash of paprika would add some color. You don't have to dilute the soup, but if you want a little more liquid you can add some water.
Make sure you bake for the full amount of time that the instructions say, so you have a nice tender pork chop. My parents said theirs were done after 45 minutes, they got it to an internal temperature of 160. Some Amish cooks would just use an iron skillet in the oven instead of a baking pan or some other large skillet and that is fine. Just put a couple tablespoons butter in it to keep things from sticking and for flavor. This recipe is fairly low in sodium and not packed with calories. I mean, you can add salt if you want. But I never do. A recipe like this shouldn't send your cholesterol through the roof like some Amish recipes.
My parents made this recipe, and they didn’t add anything additional, they just stuck to the five-ingredient recipe, and my dad said it was very tasty.
Mushroom soup, Worcestershire sauce, and catsup make for a colorful mix! Stick these in the oven, but you could also make this recipe on a grill. This recipe pairs well with rice or some potatoes. Of course, apples and applesauce always go well with pork chops. Who can forgot Humphrey Bogart talking about "pork chops and applesauce?" Green beans, broccoli, and sauerkraut are other items that would make a good side dish and turn this all into a hearty meal!

Since I come from a Pa. Dutch back ground, name Pabst was my grandfather. We always breaded chops in cracker crumbs, dipping them in milk and egg first then frying them. Never tried these recipes but worth the effort.
