Amish cooks often have a talent for taking and making their baking best at the holidays and Gloria Yoder is no exception. Gloria pens our weekly Amish Cook column and, wow, some of these recipes are amazing! If you want to read more about how the Amish celebrate Christmas, you can read an extensive primer here.
But one way the Amish do celebrate Christmas is through food: festive candies and goodies that show the season. Let's sample Five Favorite Amish Christmas recipes!

🍬 Candies
GRAHAM CRACKER BUTTERSCOTCH CANDY - This is what Gloria has to say about this recipe, one of our Five Favorite Amish Christmas Recipes: Now, talking of old traditions, the earliest memory I have of my mother making candy was when I was six-years-old. I was completely impressed with her cracker candy, now I have enjoyed making it for our children as well. It is too simple not to make for the holidays. Be sure to share a plate of Old-fashioned Easy Butterscotch Graham Christmas Candy with your neighbor, mail carrier, or someone who may be experiencing sadness or grief this holiday season. Enjoy! This is so good. Click here
🍫 Chocolates
HEALTHY CHRISTMAS CHOCOLATE - Can it really be? Check out this recipe!
YODER'S TURTLE CHRISTMAS CANDIES: Man, these are just beyond amazing. Click here for this recipe that has become a tradition in Gloria's house.
GUILT-FREE CHOCOLATE FUDGE: I made this once and, believe me, I was skeptical...but it turned out so well and really had a distinctive, amazing creaminess to it...really good flavor. Give it a try and eat it without guilt! Click here.
🍿 Treats
AMISH CHRISTMAS CARAMEL CORN: Another amazing recipe from Gloria, here is a bit more about this, and I made it last year, it is super good! Another thing to do is take your popcorn out of the oven halfway through and stir it well, scraping the spoon along the bottom and mixing the liquid caramel throughout the popcorn. Do the same when you take it out of the oven for good, you just want it mixed well. Otherwise you are leaving the best part - the caramel - on the bottom. Click here for the recipe.

Please do not use Las Vegas as your reference for Nevada. Nevada has so many small towns and history. We also have Reno and Carson City (the state capitol). Gerlack is famous for its Black Rock Desert and Burning Man celebrations . Fallon is a major Navy base training many pilots there. Fernley is a nearby hometown small town. There is Beatty, Carlin, Gabbs, Tonapah, Mina, Ely, Elko ,Virginia City many more. These towns are full of history, great outdoor recreation, ghost towns and hometown pride. Please do not just think of Las Vegas when you think of Nevada!

That is fair, Karen, thanks for pointing that out. I think I was just making that point that since Vegas is so full of conventions, concerts, etc, that I'm surprised I haven't been there but, yes, the whole state sounds ripe for exploring!
