    Heath Candy Bar Cookies

    Published: Dec 8, 2020 · Updated: Dec 9, 2020 by Kevin Williams | 6 Comments

    Jump to Recipe

Reader Penny shared this recipe for Health Candy Bar cookies, a festive holiday cookie. Which got me to think about Heath bars. Out of all the candy bars I could eat, Heath would be down the list. But Heath bar pieces seem to have really gained in popularity at those yogurt mix-in places or marble slab ice cream parlors. Heath, with its almond, milk chocolate, and toffee blend makes for a good mix-in or, in this case, cookie add-in. But why not a Kit Kat Cookie? Or a Nestle Crunch Cookie? Or, come to think of it, a "Krackel Cookie." Krackel bars, in my humble opinion, are very underrated. Snickers are overrated. The lowly Krackel bar tastes a lot like a Nestle Crunch bar, but for some reason I like it better. Both bars are milk chocolate with crisped rice, but the Krackel seems thicker and ricier.

I'm not an Almond Joy fan at all, why stick a big nut right in the middle of a perfectly good candy bar? But Mounds bars I have a developed a late in life affinity for....Man, I wonder if one could make a Mounds Bar cookie? You'd have to like coconut.

And, by the way, would you find these candy bar cookies in an Amish kitchen? Perhaps. Candies are a popular way to celebrate the holiday season and if an Amish baker has some bars sitting around I imagine it doesn't take long for them to end up in batter.

A couple of other notes about this recipe. Walnuts are optional, I'd probably leave them out. I just don't understand why people dump nuts into everything. Ruins most things, I think (although I am grudgingly coming around that they do add some nice crunch to some things)

This recipe also calls for Heath bits, which you can buy in the grocery in the baking aisle, but I'd be tempted to buy a bunch of Crunch bars, crush them and use this recipe to make Crunch or Krackel cookies. Feel free to experiment!

Kevin, I have a recipe for Mounds cookies. In fact I made the dough and formed the cookies yesterday and put them in the freezer to bake when we finally have our family Christmas. If you would like the recipe let me know and I will send it to you. Ruth Fisher

      Hi Kevin,
I grew up in Pennsylvania but now live in Canada. Heath Bar was always my favorite. We have Skor bars up here-similar- but not quite as good. Is there anyway that the Heath bar can be replicated at home?
