Today we have more scenes from the Amish school-house. We're really witnessing a rare treat here and I'm glad people are enjoying this post. It's just difficult to gain access to an Amish school-house while it's in session. A few other items that I didn't put in yesterday's post:
1) There were two "snow days" this year at the Amish school, although they really were less for snow and more for extreme sub-zero cold. The building's single stove keeps the place toasty if it's in the 20s or 30s outside, but when it dips to zero, the building can really get intolerable, plus the walking or buggy ride to school would get dangerous.
2) Baseball is a favorite sport for the youngsters during recess, boys and girls play
3) They refer to the students as "scholars."
4) The final day of the school year features a program of songs and oratory for the parents, everyone is excited about the day when it arrives.
