This is a guest post from our web developer Ashley: There are numerous occasions throughout the summer where bringing a fruit salad is appropriate and actually a great option.

Whether it be a family BBQ or a second wedding party, which it is in my case today, fruit salad is for the win! There are a few reasons why this is currently my dish of choice when I finally drag myself out of the house for summer occasions, and I say drag as I am currently 15 weeks pregnant with a 15 month in tow.

    1. As a just mentioned, I have little energy for much of anything as I emerge thru my first trimester, so all I can manage is wildly yielding a knife and chopping up tasty fruit. One strawberry for the salad, one strawberry for new baby. Oh and one for the fruit monster that is my toddler that is always at my feet in the kitchen. Which following a complex recipe in these times is just NOT happening and you cannot mess up a fruit salad. I repeat. You CANNOT mess this up.
    2. When being short on time and energy, you can even cheat a little and buy precut fruit which in some instances is actually better. For certain fruits like pineapple or melons many people have a hard time determining if the fruit is ripe. My mom came home from the store with a completely unripe watermelon, cantaloupe & honeydew melon. (you can even tell from the photo if your a fruit snob like me -- after living in the Caribbean for years with fresh fruit I absolutely hate forced ripe fruit. ) So I ran out an bought some precut options to save time and because I knew they'd be very sweet maybe even a little overripe.
    3. Other moms love the mom who brought the fruit salad (mom points)
    4. Dad's also love the mom that brought the fruit salad -- because you know they forgot the snacks mom worked so hard at in the fridge last minute.
    5. Fruit salad is also super cool and refreshing -- so in a pinch when you've lost your drink at the party for the 100th time you can pop a grape or a watermelon -- ahh you survive another moment to find a new drink.

Well I think I've rationalized my choice for today's fruit salad. I even got a little wild and bought a Canary Melon to add to my Multi-Melon mayhem!

    Fruit Salad Ingredients

    1 container of strawberries

    2 containers of blackberries

    1 half cantaloupe melon

    1 half watermelon

1 half of honey dew melon

    1 half of canary melon

    1 half of a pineapple

    4 kiwi fruit

    A bunch of green grapes

    Simple Fruit Salad Steps

Chop it up and mix it! Go wild. You CANNOT mess up a fruit salad.
