This is an Amish classic. Not sure why the recipe has come to be called "barbecued hamburgers", because you're not really shaping them into patties. It's more like a straight barbecue sandwich, but the melding of sweet and sour gives the dish a taste. So if you're looking for an easy supper that is popular in Amish kitchens, look no farther than this!

Turtle Mom
Do you mix the meat with the egg, bread crumbs, etc and make patties that you brown before adding the onions and the sauce? So baśically, you are cooking the "hamburgers" in the sauce, correct?
Kevin
Basically, TurtleMom, yes. It's a tasty recipe, let me know how it turns out!
