This is our weekly romp through the blogosphere to read any all things Amish of interest. I have a good selection to share today, so let's get right to it!
IOWA AMISH: This is a really great collection of 10 photos from various Iowa Amish settlements just capturing candid moments of their life weathering the winter. Iowa has a steadily growing Amish community, generally in the eastern part of the state. I've not explored the Iowa Amish areas a ton and some day I'd like to change that. Click here, though, to view this wonderful collection of photos.
AMISH GRANDMA: The site's title caught my attention because I thought it might actually be a blog written by an actual Amish grandmother. If there isn't a blog out there now written by an Amish person, it's only a matter of time. The Amish population is growing so fast and the portability and proliferation of computers has made it so that virtually anyone has access to the internet. I think such a blog would be interesting and insightful. Amish Grandma is interesting because it illustrates the diverse path and trajectory peoples' lives can take. Click here to check out the blog.
AMISH CHURCH PEANUT BUTTER CUPCAKES: Okay, these sound horrible to me. Right now. Because if you are on my email list (if you aren't, sign up!) you know I've been sick the past few days and the only food that has passed my lips have been some sparse amounts of white rice and ramen noodles. I'm sure if I look at these cupcakes next week, I'll be smitten. Check out this amazing (if you aren't sick) sounding recipe!
DUTCH BABY OVEN PANCAKE WITH BLOOD ORANGES AND BLUEBERRIES: Okay, this one about totally made me want to jump back into bed. But, again, this is today only. Any other day I'd look at this recipe and say,"Wow, Yum!" But blood oranges this morning? No, thanks. Still, this is a great recipe steeped in Pennsylvania Dutch history and culinary culture. Click here to check it out!
RETRO BONUS - SEASONED SNACK CRACKERS: I don't usually post stuff years and years old, but I stumbled on this this morning and being that saltines are about the only appealing sounding thing now, I thought I'd share. Click here for this interesting Amish recipe. I'm not surprised to find this recipe, for reasons unknown, Amish cooks seem to have a great affinity for saltines.

Very nice recipe and pictures but I cannot use metric measurements for Dutch Baby pancakes...I need to measure by US cups, etc.
Thanks....I love this site.
