I'm not sure what settlement this came from but I had to kind of laugh when I see "Amish Cheddar Cheese" as an ingredient. Really, I'm not sure there's such a thing. I love cheese, but cheese is cheese. It matters less who is making it and more about the process.

That said, there are some superb Amish cheesemakers out there, but it has more to do with the process they are following than their religion. I just found it funny that the Amish cook who submitted the recipe listed "Amish Cheddar" as an ingredient. I'm sure you can use any kind of Cheddar and this recipe will turn out just fine. This Cheese-Stuffed Meatloaf is the ultimate comfort food.
🧀 Adding Cheese to Meatloaf
My grandma would add Parmesan cheese to her meatloaf and her meatballs. The cheese gives the ground beef something to adhere to and does add some nice additional flavor. Amish cooks are also fond of adding cheese to ground beef, some reasons:
- Flavor: Cheese adds a rich, creamy flavor to ground beef, making it more enjoyable to eat.
- Texture: Cheese can help to soften and moisten ground beef, making it more tender and juicy.
Overall, cheese is a versatile and delicious ingredient that can be used to enhance the flavor, texture, and visual appeal of ground beef dishes.
You can add any type of cheese you want or a blend. Mozzarella, colby, or Monterey Jack works well in this recipe.
📜 Step-By-Step Cheddar Meatloaf
This is a delicious, moist meatloaf. Use the best most lean ground beef you can get your hands on.
Get a large bowl and work up the meat and rest of ingredients.
You can add seasonings of your choice when you are mixing up the ground beef. Add as much cheddar cheese as you want to the meat mixture! While mixing the meat is where you can add spices like garlic, salt, oregano, basil, parsley, black pepper, or Italian seasoning. And many Amish cooks use blends of meat. You can use ground beef, but also ground turkey or ground pork.
Try to use large eggs in this recipe and if you aren't getting the texture you want, you can add 1 /2 cup of breadcrumbs or panko.
For the sauce, in addition to ketchup, you could blend in some barbecue sauce or a dash or two of Worcestershire sauce.
When the meatloaf is done, slice and serve. This meatloaf pairs well with corn, broccoli, or peas. Your meal will be Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest-worthy. For storage, put leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate.
