We have an interesting variety of Amish-oriented news stories so let's plunge right in.
NEW YORK BENEFIT: Â Man, sounds like it was an awesome turn-out in Cattaragus County, New York for a benefit auction to help raise funds to pay the medical bills of an Amish boy. Â What a good-cause event and the food sounds absolutely amazing, homemade pizza is something you don't find at a ton of Amish events, but this one had it! Â Click here to read about what sounds like a truly worthy, and delicious, event!
SHRINERS/AMISH BENEFIT:  This is an interesting article that I wish would have explored the relationship between the Amish and the Shriners a bit more.  Clearly the Amish use Shriners hospitals.  I have a friend who is a nurse in  Shriners burn unit and Amish children are a presence there.  That said, this particular Amish community in Coldwater, Michigan isn't known for its charity work and I'm just wondering if there is someone in their community that is a Shriners patient that they are trying to raise money for or if this is just a general goodwill type gesture?  I wish the article had delved a bit deeper. THE NEW AMISH NOVEL REVIEW: Â Now, THIS sounds like a gripping read. Â It sounds like just thought-provoking, fun fiction as opposed to some of these romance novel confections or just plain weird Amish-themed books (Amish vampires, anyone?). Click here to read a review of what sounds like a great book!
AMISH SOFT SUGAR COOKIES and "Everything Cookies": Â Amish Country Chef and Cleveland Fox News contributor Lee Ann Miller shares what sounds like an amazing Amish soft sugar cookie recipe and another cookie called "Everything Cookies" Â Click here for these two recipes, the sugar cookies look awesome!

PURE is dubbed by some as the "Mennonite Breaking Bad", others call it a "pure mess". What do you think?
"PURE" PURELY A MESS? Â We had talked earlier in the year about a new Canadian drama called PURE which is set in the Old Order Mennonite community and is sort of a morality tale about some upstanding people who get caught up in drug trafficking. The drama is now available on Hulu in the United States and is getting mixed reviews. Â This reviewer wasn't overly kind, if anyone has watched us know your thoughts about the show!
