Falmouth, Kentucky is a small city about an hour south of Cincinnati. There is an independent grocery store on the north side of the town and then on the south side there's, well, another one...but this one is a chain and it's not a place you usually think of as a grocery store: Dollar General.
Dollar General Market is a format that some of the Dollar General stores are morphing into. I had never seen one before and it's kind of cool. Basically, it looks like any other Dollar General, except half the store is turned over to a grocery store format. They have fresh produce, frozen foods, and plenty of prepackaged goods.
The Dollar General Market format is a grocery store
Plenty of prepackaged goodies under Dollar General's private label brand, Clover Valley.
Plenty of pork....
A whole wall of coolers......
More produce....
And olenty of corn...out of season for it, but they got it from someplace...
Ditto for watermelon, out of season, but plenty of them...
And any cereal you might want...
Cucumbers!
And plenty of Dollar General asparagus!

Hi Kevin,
Would you care to comment if the Amish are aware of the current national emergency with the Coronavirus? I'm sure they are, but I would like to get your input. I hadn't really thought about it, but I saw someone comment on it on Facebook.
I hope all is well with your family!
Thanks!
Kelly

Kelly, I'm working on finding out more about this...I know health officials in Daviess County, Indiana and Holmes County, Ohio are trying to make the Amish aware...this is a potential disaster in the making because you have a large population prone to large gatherings and sanitizing hands, etc is not something that is a part of the culture (no running water makes it tougher), plus a lot of elderly Amish....I worry about what will happen once the coronavirus hits the Amish population....Kevin

You asked for ideas to keep your 3 and 6 year-olds busy - I follow another blogger that has quite a few children and they have had a great Winter keeping busy with Jig Saw puzzles.
Kevin
Thanks, Richard, Aster and I picked out one that we are going to order from Amazon!

We recently got one of those Dollar Generals in our area. Not as big as yours though. Seeing DG selling meat and fresh veggies is odd. TFS! Blessings!

I'm not a huge DG fan, but these new format stores definitely help in a pinch!
