I love visiting Amish and Mennonite markets and when I was in central Kentucky I had the chance to visit a gem of one on US Route 27 north of Cynthiana. This was a no-frills Mennonite market that had all the usual bulk food staples, and a few other fun things. Grandview Country Market is a Mennonite-owned market located at 9216 US-27, Cynthiana, KY 41031. Here is my visit in pictures:
Plain dresses provide an off-the-rack selection for the Mennonite community in the area.
It's not all food, items of sundries are fun to browse at Grandview..
Beautiful hand-made quilts...
A wonderful selection of cheeses....
Delicious loaves of puffy homemade bread at Grandview...
I loved the selection of cookbooks.....Amish and Mennonite cookbooks from all over.
I should have bought these homemade fried pies....
These doughnuts were probably the most amazing thing about this store...self-serve case, 75 cents a doughnut....and, man, these glazed were amazing...I personally don't like glazed that are light and fluffy, because, well, they are gone in two bites. But these doughnuts are sweet, dense, and the perfect balance of sweet and doughy....I should have bought a dozen....
Plenty of homemade jams and jellies...
