Amish benefit auctions are often held during the spring and summer months, usually to benefit their parochial schools. The events are a wonderful way to experience Amish culture, indulge in some Amish-made food, and get a good deal on anything from farm equipment to quilts.

FIRST SATURDAY IN AUGUST: Middlefield Care Center Benefit Auction
Annual auction to benefit the Middlefield Care Center (Amish Birthing Center), held the first Saturday of August at the Middlefield Sale Barn at 15848 Nauvoo Road, Middlefield, Ohio 44062. Begins at 9:00 a.m. and features bake sale, hot lunches, ice cream, chicken BBQ, fresh doughnuts, sausage sandwiches and more. Auction includes furniture, tools, crafts, hay, straw and more. Quilts sell at 1:00.

Here are some scenes from the bi-annual school auction held in Milroy, Indiana's Amish community, usually in the spring. Like most Amish auctions, you can score anything from an amazing piece of pie to a handcrafted quilt!
