Sweet Scenes From The Conewango Valley...

    Published: Mar 1, 2012 · Updated: Feb 2, 2021 by Kevin Williams | 5 Comments

I'm sharing a few late-winter scenes from the sprawling Conewango Valley Amish settlement in New York State.  I spent some time there about this time last year when, like now, the last gasps of winter are gripping the valley and the sap is beginning to rise. The settlement is so picturesque and serene and I'd go there in a heartbeat again to explore and enjoy.  One of the places I'd surely stop again is Malinda's Candy Shop (I'll be posting a video soon from there) where she sells delicious jams and candies, homemade chocolate confections that will make your mouth melt.   Here is a photo of some of her homemade chocolate bunnies which begin to sell swiftly as we approach Easter.    These other photos are of laundry drying on a chilly line and snow cloaking the valley in a quiet whiteness.  Children spill out of the one-room schools in the afternoons, heading for home on skis and sleds.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Conewango Valley towns! A VERY favourite Amish spot of mine! I went to a relief Auction in Cherry Creek last year on Easter weekend! It was so neat to take part of!
      Amazing donuts and ice cream!

Wow so, they were living in a home with only plywood up and not siding? I wonder how cold and drafty it is inside that home.

I have to say that this new site is a joy. I frequently get side-tracked, but that's ok. Eventually I find my way back, and I am learning to navigate (and I usually hate new things when it comes to stuff on the computer!).

I live in Conewango Valley and absolutely love every minute of it. I just purchased my easter candy from Melinda and frequent her shop often 🙂
